Please I need your help with this,The information on the PC is so important to my life. Click Start, and then right-click the My Computer icon. If restore points are missing, verify there is enough space reserved on the hard drive for System Restore. Restore points are missing in Windows XP. Windows XP starts the computer using the last known good configuration.

So, I am still stuck with how to get past that one driver file that is hanging it all up. If you do the F8 startup it doesn't see the drive. But in the end result it keeps getting hung up on that original corrupted file, even though I put a replacement version into the 6 disk set. I had to swap out a couple of corrupt driver files in the disk set. This little tidbit I found in a chat room reading back a few years. I did find and make a six disk set of start up diskettes that you could only start if you hammered the F6 key at the right time or the machine wouldn't see the HD. but could not get any of the choices to work because of the missing/corrupt isapnp.sys file.
